Important Information - Post Closure Technical Support
Ciba as a responsible company have decided to offer basic technical support to all
MetalFX® customers after the closure date of 19th December 2008.
A technical support phone line and email service will be available until +44 (0) 7538 772908 in aiding customers with any questions or concerns that may arise. This website will also be active during this time.
Q: Why did the MetalFX® business close A:The decision to close the MetalFX® business was made by the Ciba Coating Effects Segment Leadership Team. The main reason was due to the business not fitting within Ciba Coating Effects core business and has no reflection on the potential of the product in the design, printing, packaging and publishing markets.
Q: How will I be affected as a supplier of MetalFX® A: The closure of the MetalFX® business will not really affect the current suppliers of the technology (designers, printers, publishers) for 12 months after the closure date. MetalFX® inks will still be available from your usual ink supplier and post closure technical support will be at hand via the contact information on this website. The website will be active over these twelve months allowing customers to register software and search the database of certified companies.
As the business closes on 19th December 2008, marketing and development of the MetalFX® products and services will cease to exist.
Q: Can I still purchase MetalFX® products? A: It is possible to purchase MetalFX® products until 10th December 2008. This includes print licenses, design kits, starter packs and visualization software. For the print license it is essential that you pass the certification process before the 19th December 2008, as this service will no longer be available after this date.
The MetalFX® inks should still be available after the closure date. Please contact your local ink supplier for more information.
Q: Can I still use the MetalFX® brand? A: Ciba will still retain the MetalFX® brand, IP and Patent for MetalFX® so unless any further announcements are made it is still possible to use the MetalFX® brand and market yourself as a supplier of MetalFX® (designers, printers, publishers).
